Planning your winter wellness programme

While winter may seem months away, at Balance2health we believe the best time to start planning your winter wellness programme is NOW.
With clocks due to change out of daylight saving in a few weeks and the first signs of cooler weather, if you start taking care of yourself now, you’ll find it is possible to get through winter without succumbing to chronic colds and illness.
1. Work on winter motivation
While most health experts recommend at least 30 minutes exercise six days per week, many people neglect their fitness during the winter months. Getting motivated for exercise over winter can be one of the biggest problems. What to do when it’s cold and wet outside, or you just don’t feel like it? Alexia knows all about motivation and explains more here.
2. Boost your immune system
A little work on your immune system NOW, will keep you well throughout winter. If you’re fed up with spending each year coughing, sneezing and feeling miserable, then book in for Kathryn’s immune boosting programme.
3. Make it easy on yourself to eat well
In winter it’s easier to give in to all those tempting foods. But, you’ll feel better, have more energy and be more likely to withstand illness, if you continue to eat well over the colder months.
Kathryn was recently asked if she had to force herself to eat well – which led to this blog post about how to make it easy to eat well.
4. Keep up the fitness
If you find it difficult to fit an exercise session before or after the working day, why not complete your exercise at lunchtime? This leaves you free to relax in the evening.
Lunch-time pilates will leave you feeling physically energised and mentally alert – without the sweat. We’ve recently extended our pilates schedule to include lunch-time classes on Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 12.30pm. You can find the full timetable here.
