What I'm eating

  • Thursday. Breakfast: wholemeal toast. One with pesto and cucumber. The other with tahini and jam.
  • Weds. Lunch: red cabbage salad, with almonds & a shoyu, sesame oil, rice vinegar, tahini dressing.
  • My current snacking obsession is dried figs.
  • Monday. Breakfats: tweaked the scrambled eggs. Mixed through harissa, oven roasted pumpkin and fresh parsley.
  • Saturday. Richard is making pizza. He bought the pizza dough from the local pizza parlour, but is doing the rest himself.

The Greens Cookbook: a review

Posted by kathryn in Reviews

I have a new cookbook: The Greens cookbook: extraordinary vegetarian cuisine by Deborah Madison – and it’s wonderful. h3. The Book I haven’t heard of this book before, but I suspect my international vegetarian restaurant knowledge is woefully inadequate. In researching, I’ve found Greens is a really well known restaurant in San Francisco, that opened in 1979. This book was first published in 1987, but has been out of print for a while. Just recently Grub Street in London …

Are you fed up with making the same resolutions EVERY new year?

Posted by kathryn in Reviews

December is my quietest time in clinic. Virtually nobody wants to see their nutritionist before Christmas. However, the reverse is true in the new year. From mid-January through to March my professional life is full-on. The most common health statement from clients is: h3. “I want to lose weight and get healthy” For many people, they’re back exactly where they were last year and the year before and the year before. It’s the same 10 kilos they’re trying to …

Posted by kathryn in Reviews and Ethics & Sustainablity

I’ve been buying some books recently. All sorts of volumes. Books about food, nutrition and cooking. As well as some meaty stuff on sustainability and the ethics surrounding what we eat. Reading them has made the last couple of months an interesting, interesting time; with thoughts, issues and food ideas swirling around in my head. I’m going to include some occasional short-ish book reviews on Limes & Lycopene. And the first one is Bottomfeeder. I first read about Bottomfeeder …
