31 Days to Better Energy - what's been happening
Posted by kathryn in Seasonal Health
Two-thirds of the way into 31 Days to Better Energy and I thought it was time to check-in with how everyone was feeling?
What’s happened so far?
The last ten days of posts have included eating more vegies, starting the working week with a clean desk, planning a holiday and getting some exercise. However, probably the hardest task was Friday’s, when I challenged you to an alcohol-free weekend. I’d love to know how you went.
How do you feel?
As I mentioned before, the 31 Days to Better Energy project is not about me collecting a list of quick health tips, it’s about you actually achieving more energy. I’m hoping that two-thirds in you’re feeling a whole lot better, however I’d love to know whether you feel differently now to when you started and if so, how?
The rest of the 31 days
Eleven more days left in the month, so there will be eleven more posts. I’m going to continue covering energy boosting strategies from multiple different angles. Some tasks will be challenging, while others will be much more enjoyable.
Many thanks
Many, many thanks to all of you who’ve come back regularly to comment and send me emails on each task. I know some of you are enjoying it, while others are dragging themselves through, knowing they’ll feel better at the end. Well done to all of you though.

Hi Kathryn. Just checking in. It’s late again and the cold, wet weather has set me back. I have eaten far too much today and I am feeling stodgy and flat and annoyed at my lack of self-discipline. I was travelling rather well before this but have derailed for the moment. Having no alcohol was easy for me, infact I have set myself a target of not having any for the rest of the month. However I did feel quite taken aback at the task of planning a holiday. There are a million reasons why it is just too hard to organise; five people in a household with different schedules is bad enough; but even if I go without them I will worry about what shall they eat, who will wash, who will care for the garden, what about the animals and on and on it goes. Just way too daunting for me so I am afraid that task shall not be realised. Am I eating lots of vegies? Sure am, along with a whole heap of “naughty” foods. Am I getting lots of exercise? Afraid not. What am I feeling right now? A bit disappointed actually. I started August on a high, I feel I have slipped a bit but I am optimistic and hope to regain that “high” by the end of August. Fingers crossed.
Hi there Mariana, sounds like you’re having what is professionally known as . . . a setback. You were going well, have slipped over the last few days and are now angry with yourself. It’s time to stop, take a few minutes to re-assess and get back on track. You haven’t ruined the month, you’re still on track to be feeling better by the end of it. So don’t give up.
Plan to eat some lighter foods over the next few days and try to get out, even for a few minutes exercise. Regarding the holiday – you don’t have to get away to have a holiday. Why not organise one for yourself at home? Take a week or even a few days off from work, let everyone fend for themselves a bit more and spend the time doing the things you like to do. This may mean lying on the couch reading, or it may be getting out and about, going to local exhibitions or to the cinema. You certainly don’t have to go away to have a holiday and it shouldn’t be a source of stress.
Thanks for reporting back so honestly Mariana.
