Healthy shopping tour
Posted by kathryn in Shopping Basket, All In A Day's Work and A Balanced Diet

In June I’m running another Healthy Shopping Tour in Gladesville. I find that for most people eating well starts with the shopping. If your house is full of healthy, tasty and easy-to-use foods, then it’s more likely you’ll eat well during the week.
However, for many people the supermarket can be a minefield, there’s just too much choice, too many products and too little time to read food labels, and make informed decisions.
The Healthy Shopping Tours are run over a Sunday morning and encompass:
- how to decode food labels
- how to plan and cook for yourself and a family
- looking at different foods and the best ways to cook them
Part of the session actually takes place at the shops, looking at individual foods and products and how to make the best choices in each food category. The course is limited to small groups, with a maximum of six people per session only.
- Date: Sunday 17th June
- Time: 10.00am – 12.30pm
- Cost: $50.00

[...] As well as running Healthy Shopping Tours, over the next few months I’m joining together with psychotherapist and life coach Andrew Callinan and registered fitness instructor, Alexia Morris to run a programme called Life Plan. [...]
[...] There is so much deviousness out there in the food marketing and labelling world and decoding food labels can be a tricky thing to do. If anyone in Sydney would like to know more, then I’ll be covering all of this in much more detail during my Healthy Shopping Tours. [...]
This is the coolest idea ever! I thank for mom for leading me on these when I was growing up (probably many more than I wanted.) And for showing me how to turn a few things from the produce aisle and heath food store into dinner for 7 (on a budget too.) I consider myself very lucky and am heartened to see you offering this wonderful service.
Thanks Vanessa. My mum also hammered home the messages of what to buy at the supermarket, how to choose fruit and veg and what to do with just a few ingredients. While I wasn’t always an enthusiastic receiver of this information, I do thoroughly appreciate it now – it’s one of those basic life skills we should all have.
