  • Tuesday. Mid morning snack = a banana and small handful cashews.
  • Tuesday breakfast: porridge with peanut butter & maple syrup. I'd forgotten how delicious this combination is.
  • Saturday. 5 cashews and a banana before heading off on a 45 minute walk

Lettuce Deliver fortnightly box

Posted by kathryn in Vegetables and Winter

I get organic fruit and veg delivered once a fortnight from Lettuce Deliver, and this is my latest box.

This isn’t enough to cover all the fruit and veg Richard and I would eat in a fortnight, but it does mean we have a base level of ingredients to draw on. For the next week or so, there will be vegetables in the fridge, so when we are home late or tired there will still be something to make a healthy meal from.

I love the seasonal change in the delivery, plus the quality is always very high.

So these are the foods I’ll be eating and ingredients I’ll be cooking with over the next week or so: apples (golden delicious, granny smith, pink lady), avocado, grapefruit, kiwi fruit, mandarins (Imperials, no Daisies I’m afraid), navel oranges, passionfruit, green beans, broccoli, carrots, red cabbage, cauliflower, choy sum, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, spring onions, potatoes, onions, sweet potato and a dozen beautiful biodynamic eggs.

Well, I think if you are going to give Lettuce Deliver this sort of publicity you should be getting a discount! How about sending this to them too? And yes, your camera has done well.

Wow, this is cool, you don’t have to go to the grocery and you get fresh veggies. Does Lettuce Deliver guarantee the quality? They probably make sure they don’t send out ones with wilting leaves or tomatoes with bruises. Nice picture!

The quality is very good and there are rarely problems. However if there is, you just let them know and they credit your account, no questions asked – so yes, it’s a very good service

Hi Kathryn, I have tried Lettuce and whilst their quality is OK, their prices on grocery items are a bit high. I did a little research and dug up Doorstep Organics – www.doorstep.com.au. They sell pretty much all the same stuf but their quality is better and the prices are much more reasonable. When you take into account their discount for loyal shoppers I found my grocery bill quickly dropped.

Best thing is, just recently they have introduced ordinary supermarket items like loo paper and vegemite. Now I head to the supermarket once a month instead of once a week! This is great because I have far less time now that I am working part time again.

Check them out at www.doorstep.com.au they offer new customers a 25% discount on fresh produce on their first produce.

Jemma: thanks for your comment. I’ve only ever used Lettuce for fruit and veg, so haven’t really looked at their grocery prices. I’ve never heard of Doorstep Organics, so thanks for the info. I shall investigate them straight away – especially as I’m always looking for ways to minimise trips to the supermarket.
